| George W. Bush the Messiah?" You Really, Really Like Me! |
|||
|
The disclosure comes within days of a series of revelations that might have devastated any other administration. These include: • A government commission concluding that Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction program — the basis of the Bush administration’s march to war against Iraq — was entirely non-existent. The administration’s own people discovered that the threatening weapons were dismantled more than eight years ago by Saddam Hussein • Secretary of State Colin Powell’s revelation that there was absolutely no connection between Saddam Hussein and Al Queida — contrary to his own assertions last February. • Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neil’s revelation that Bush resembled a “ a blind person addressing a room full of deaf people at weekly cabinet meetings, noting that the President was totally disengaged. • O’Neil’s assertion on 60 Minutes that the Bush administration had plans established to invade Iraq immediately after inaugural day — months before September 11, and long before the issue was raised in public. All of these truths apparently did not damage the Bush administration’s image amidst the electorate. In fact, the Bush administration poll numbers went up in the wake of these allegations. It has become apparent to Karl Rove and company that what is bad PR for some, is not bad PR for others. “The people obviously worship Dubya and see him as a Messiah,” Rove said. “God even told Pat Robertson that George is headed for a landslide victory this fall.” Rove admitted to the allegations regarding Prince Dianna to keep the White House occupant on a roll. “Nothing can hurt him now,” Rove said. “In fact, there will be a lot more admissions as the campaign moves forward in the next few months.” Among those is an admission by Vice President Dick Cheney that the entire
Iraq operation was simply an effort to access Iraqi oil and make Halliburton’s
profits go through the roof. “I’ve got a family to support,”
Cheney said, “and a skyrocketing 401K plan doesn’t hurt. “ Bush said there are limits to the public’s patience, however. “I could never admit to having an affair with an intern at the Oval Office,” he said. “You could get impeached for that!” |
